It was a great game!

We watched the World Cup final yesterday and I have to say ... it was a great  game!  Love that team!

So I'm just taking a moment to share some of the quilts I've been working on.

This is a quilt for a customer's daughter.  It's a beautiful shade of coral and white.  Her piecing was impeccable which made my job easier.
This is a closeup of those beautiful coral baskets!
You've heard of the Missouri Star Quilt Company Disappearing Hour Glass, right?  This is the result of all that cutting, switching around, cutting ... absolutely love this bright batik quilt.  Again, piecing was spot on...

I'm thinking that I have a wonderful and talented group of piecers!  Great work everyone!

And this is a Snowman quilt that was a great theme to work on during those hot summer days!

  1. And this is an Autumn quilt that was fun to do.  Can you see those cute pumpkins in there?

Another one to drool over ...

Here's another beauty from Joanne ...  didn't she do a great job piecing?  Quilting it was like knife through soft butter ... so smooth!

You have to click on the pic to get a close-up view.  I used a beautiful pantograph that hopefully replicated those beautiful swirls in the fabric.  And I want to call this a Moda quilt ... it is Moda fabric, isn't it?

So on to the next project!

Oh, I finally decided on what I'm going to do border-wise on my Easy Street quilt.  I absolutely LOVE living in this age of technology ... I went to my two fav fabric stores looking for a particular fabric and didn't find it, so came home and found in on the internet.  I like spending my fabric $$$ locally, but I also knew that I really really wanted this particular fabric.  So glad I finally found it!   So I'm waiting for this fabric to be delivered, and then I'll finish up the borders, and maybe in February I'll be able to get it on Max for quilting.  "The cobbler's children have no shoes ..."  and "The quilters quilts seldom get quilted ..."  LOL!  But we'll work it in somehow.

And next up is the Cowboy quilt that I finished piecing this past fall, while Max was off for his spa treatment.  So maybe the quilter does get some quilts quilted after all!  This one is about 1 year old.  It's a big ol' cowboy quilt and I started it in Panama City in January 2012 ... I'm slow ... reaaaaaallll slow ...

Happy Belated Birthday ... and Happy Independence Day!

Belated Happy Independence Day!  I barely noticed as it's so hot here (how hot is it?  Hotter than fried pies!)  that I really stayed underground doing what I love.  We heard lots of fireworks but with all the trees around us we couldn't see a one.

My sweet MIL turned 91 on the 3rd of July.  Sometime ago I met a customer who does wool work and we struck a barter-bargain.  I asked for a red/white/blue wool braided bowl that I could give to MIL on her birthday.  The bowl came and I took it to our local home decor store and had them work up a floral arrangement to fit the bowl.  Here's the result:

Isn't it pretty?  Happy Birthday, Lois!!

So the quilting world continues on and here are a few of the quilts that I've been working on.

This first one is Pam's baby quilt Spot's Favorite Colors and it turned out so sweet.  I used the panto Water World on it.

The next two quilts are LARGE quilts and because they are so so so big I was unable to get a good overall picture.

Carrie's Blue and Brown Boy's quilt is huge!  And this picture does not come close to doing it justice.  It is a beautiful batik quilt.  I used the pantograph Fossil on it with a Deep Mint Magna-Glide thread and it came out beautifully.  No feathers or florals for these boys, you know...
Remember to click on the picture for a closer view.

This gorgeous Yellow and Blue sampler quilt went home with Susan.  Again, this one is very large.  I used a Feather Meander on it with a yellow Magna-Glide thread.  I absolutely love this thread!  It doesn't go with every single quilt, but for those that call for it - wow!

Stay cool out there!  We are experiencing near-100 deg weather.  I just feel blessed that I have air conditioning and work that I enjoy doing INSIDE!   I'm real tempted to try that "fry an egg on the sidewalk" thingie ...

I've got several projects on my design schedule right now so I'm busy busy busy.   There's a One Block Wonder that needs to be finished, a Snail's Trail that's ALMOST done, and two Lone Star projects.  Plus I've done two of those cutie-patootie Iron Caddy bags.  Christmas is coming, you know!

Quilts Delivered

Patsy Ruth came to visit today and I gave her Michael's quilt (Hunker Down, Dawgs!) and her Batik Squares quilt.  Michaels quilt was one of the 1600 inch quilts and it turned out awesome.  I did the good ol' Swirls on it and that design just softens up a very structured quilt like these 1600 inch quilts.  He is going to love it!

Her Batik Squares quilt came out great.  Some of the batik squares have dragonflies on them, so I decided to go with a dragonfly pantograph.  I think I was able to get a picture of the dragonfly on the front and on the back.  I love Patsy's choice of colors for this quilt.  She has a real eye for color.  Way to go, Patsy Ruth!

CELEBRATE! and the Batik Jacket

Well, time goes by and sometimes we forget something that was once so important but has maybe faded a bit into the background.  Today is my 8th anniversary of being in remission!  I'll never forget the day of diagnosis and I thought I'd always always remember the entire journey, especially that last day of treatment; however, I'm extremely pleased to let you know that life moves forward and I am at the point where I ALMOST forgot that this is a day to celebrate!  So if you are somewhere on the C-path, take assurance that the day will come where you'll lift your head from your sewing machine and think: "Oh my ... today's THAT day!"  Sweet sweet sweet ... I think I'll have a glass of wine or two tonight!  Why don't you join me?  Around 8pm EST??

The second part of the Sweatshirt Jacket Class at Kiwiquilts is tomorrow and here's the teacher finishing up at the last minute!  Isn't that the way it always goes?  We have the 2 front pieces, the back piece, and the two sleeves.  My MIL wants a batik jacket - "just like yours" - well, I can't find the exact fabrics that I made mine with about 5 years ago, but I think I picked out some pretty ones.  In fact, I actually had these fabrics in a bundle with an attached note that they were for HER quilt!  Man, sometimes I'm so organized it scares me!  If I hadn't looked I would have never found it.  The colors are purple, gold, some greens ...

The lining is a favorite batik that I bought a LOT of some time ago.  I'll show pic of that when I get the whole jacket done.

I was going to machine quilt the pieces on Max, but realized that the lining itself is separate.  And didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out if I could machine quilt with just batting and fabric.   So to make it easier for myself, I cross-hatched it using my DSM. Love that sweet walking foot with the attached measuring foot.  But it did take some time.

Ok, now back to the sewing machine and piece this sweetie-pie together!

More later!
